Clean and Green: Combining Litter Cleanup with Carbon Removal Efforts

At EBB & FLO, sustainability is more than just a buzzword - it's a core value that informs everything we do. We believe that a sustainable future requires action, collaboration, and a commitment to making a positive impact on the planet and our communities. That's why we're proud to share our latest efforts to combine litter cleanup with carbon removal, and how you can get involved too.

From October 2020 - October 2021, we partnered with Eden Reforestation Projects, and planted a total of 11,151 trees as part of our commitment to carbon removal. These trees will help to offset over 230 tonnes of carbon, which is equivalent to the carbon footprint of over 30 average UK households per year. We're thrilled to be able to contribute to a more sustainable future in this way and are actively seeking our next Tree Planting partner to collaborate with.

But we know that sustainability is about more than just reducing our carbon footprint. That's why we've also been hard at work organising local beach cleans in our community. Since 2017, we've held over 50 beach cleans, involving community, corporate, and school groups. We also encourage our staff to volunteer and litter pick during the summer months, when footfall and litter are at their highest. On average, each clean removes around 25kg of litter, which would otherwise pollute our oceans and harm marine life. Collectively, we've removed over 1.25 tonnes of litter from our local coastline, and we're not done yet.

Why is this important? Litter pollution is a major threat to the health of our oceans and the planet as a whole. Plastic waste can take hundreds of years to decompose, and can harm wildlife, ecosystems, and even human health. By removing litter from our local coastline, we're not only protecting the environment, but also promoting a sense of community and inspiring positive change.

At EBB & FLO, we believe that sustainability is about more than just a set of actions - it's a way of living. That's why we're committed to taking concrete steps towards sustainability every day. It's a journey, not a destination and we know that we can't do it alone. We need the support and collaboration of like-minded individuals and organisations to make a real impact.

If you're interested in getting involved, we encourage you to visit our beach clean section to learn more about how you can support our efforts and have a positive impact. Whether you're a community group, school, or business, we welcome your involvement in creating a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future for all.
