Full Moon Reflections: Design Inspiration

Full Moon Reflections: Design Inspiration

When I was a little girl, my dad would take me and my brother outside on clear nights to look at the moon and stars. He’d teach us about the constellations, share stories of the universe, and let our minds wander with the mystery and vastness of it all. Those memories shaped my fascination with the celestial, but the moon, in particular, has always captured my imagination. Its phases, beauty, and deep symbolism have become part of how I navigate my own life and now influence my jewellery designs, too.

Inspiration from the Full Moon

For me, the full moon represents the idea of fullness and letting go. Every month, I try to make time to watch the moonrise, often by the sea, reflecting on what I need to release and what I want to embrace. I recorded a video recently of the moon rising above the water, with soft pink and blue hues in the sky. That breathtaking view, along with the steady glow of the moon, fills me with a sense of calm and wonder. I channel these feelings into my designs, creating pieces that serve as reminders to connect with something bigger than ourselves.

Capturing the Moon’s Essence in Jewellery

With my Full Moon Necklace, I wanted to create a piece that truly embodies the moon’s texture and energy. I used a process called reticulation, a technique that allows the silver to form a natural, rugged surface resembling the moon’s craters and shadows. Each piece is hand-crafted with solid recycled sterling silver, giving it a unique glow that mirrors the moon’s beauty. This finish is unlike any other, making it one-of-a-kind, just like the moon itself.

You can watch the video of the moonrise, on my youtube channel, which shows exactly the colours and energy I wanted to capture.

Wearing the Moon: Evoking Its Intentions

The Full Moon Necklace is more than just a piece of jewellery, it’s a tool for mindfulness and intention. When you wear it, let it remind you of the moon’s symbolism: cycles of change, growth, and renewal. Think of it as a grounding token during busy days, a little nudge to pause and reconnect with your inner world.

You could use it as part of your own full moon ritual. Take a moment to reflect on what no longer serves you and let the necklace be a symbol of release. Or, when new intentions take root, wear it as a physical reminder of what you’re working towards.

This piece was designed to encourage you to embrace your personal journey, honouring where you’ve been and where you’re headed.

The Meaning Behind the Design

This necklace, and the rest of my celestial collection, are symbols of life’s natural cycles. The full moon necklace, in particular, serves as a reminder that, like the moon, we all go through phases. Sometimes we feel full and complete, ready to release and move on, and other times we need a fresh start.

If you’re drawn to the beauty of the full moon and want a piece that can symbolise this journey in your life, explore the Full Moon Necklace and the rest of my Celestial Collection. Each piece is crafted with intention and care, hoping to bring a sense of peace and grounding to whoever wears it.
